Estimates only. CPF uses full rates for Singapore Citizens and SPRs from the third year onwards, assumes monthly fixed allowance is Ordinary Wages, and treats AWS/bonus as Additional Wages. Income tax is not deducted.
How to compare job offers in Singapore
A higher monthly salary does not always produce the better overall offer. AWS, bonus reliability, CPF, benefits, leave, working hours and commute time can materially change the answer.
CPF treatment used by this calculator
For 2026, the CPF Ordinary Wage ceiling is S$8,000 per month. The Additional Wage ceiling is S$102,000 minus the Ordinary Wages subject to CPF for the year. AWS and employment bonuses generally attract CPF, subject to that ceiling.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 10% salary increase enough to switch jobs?
There is no universal threshold. Check whether the increase survives differences in AWS, bonus, CPF, leave, commute costs, working hours and role risk. A 10% headline increase can shrink quickly when the new offer removes AWS or adds longer hours.
Is AWS compulsory in Singapore?
No. AWS, also called a 13th-month payment, is not compulsory unless it is included in your employment contract or collective agreement.
Are bonuses and AWS subject to CPF?
They generally attract CPF as Additional Wages, subject to the applicable annual Additional Wage ceiling.
Does this calculator include Singapore income tax?
No. Personal income tax depends on tax residency, reliefs and other income. The “cash after employee CPF and work costs” result is not the same as final after-tax income.
How is effective hourly value calculated?
The calculator divides annual cash after employee CPF and job-linked costs, plus annual benefits, by estimated annual working and commuting hours. Annual leave reduces estimated working weeks.
